Christmas may not be here yet, but we’re close enough that we’re going to be talking about it a lot. After all, so much of the fun is the buildup, right? There’s something especially magical about a home dressed for Christmas, particularly when the holiday decorations tell a story. So, we’re sharing three of our favorite festive Homeworthy homes. Lee Ann Thornton’s Nostalgic Coastal Christmas in Connecticut

For interior designer Lee Ann Thornton, Christmas is all about tradition. At her coastal Connecticut home, she trades her usual breezy palette for festive pops of red, creating a holiday look inspired by the nostalgic charm of Little Women. That red was as intentional as it may seem. She says, “Years and years ago, I decided I wanted an all-red tree. We were living in Los Angeles and I wanted something very Vermont. Now, my house is very white and seaside. So, the combination of the white and the red feels very magical and seasonal. Red has been the significant color throughout the house.”

Vintage quilts reupholstered into club chairs bring warmth to the living room, while a Christmas tree filled with nearly 40 years of collected ornaments tells the story of her family. Throughout the house, red gingham accents and thoughtful seasonal touches make even the most familiar spaces feel magical.

Landon McAfee’s Whimsical, Vintage-Filled Tennessee Cottage

In West Tennessee, Landon McAfee has transformed a once-neglected cottage into a whimsical Christmas wonderland. With help from his father and brother, he renovated the historic home from the ground up, preserving its original character while making room for his lifelong love of collecting. He adds, “Growing up, my mother every year, she would buy us two ornaments, and so each year you got to pick out two of your favorite ornaments, and then when you move out, you get to take half of those ornaments with you, if you please. I actually started collecting ornaments.”

At Christmas, handmade paper chains stretch across the living room, vintage ornaments mingle with treasured travel souvenirs, and fresh greenery gathered from the yard adds an old-fashioned touch. The result is a wonderfully nostalgic home that proves holiday decorating doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag.

Olivia Berlinsky’s Sentimental Christmas Retreat in New Jersey

Tucked away in the woods of Long Valley, New Jersey, interior designer and vintage reseller Olivia Berlinsky celebrates Christmas with an appreciation for the past. Her aptly named Tucked Away Cottage is filled with storied antiques and sentimental family keepsakes, including a Christmas tree decorated with handwritten notes from her late father. “So, when I pull these out, it’s like he’s right here. They just make me feel so warm and special knowing that I kept those.”

Rather than relying on elaborate decorations, Olivia incorporates natural elements gathered outdoors and subtle festive accents that complement her home’s collected interiors. Every corner feels deeply personal, reflecting her belief that the most meaningful decorations are the ones that hold memories.
