Halloween is upon us and Homeworthy has a front row seat to all of the best houses decorated for the occasion. In fact, just last night, we took to the streets to witness the magic (the terrifyingly beautiful magic, but magic nonetheless) in real time. That’s right; Homeworthy is on the ground, and we want to see the best Halloween houses in existence this year.
Below, we are sharing our top contenders we’ve stumbled upon in New York City, but if you are based elsewhere and want to show off your decorating skills, we invite you to share. While there’s no official contest, there kind of is, right? So, if you’re competitive and trust your decorating skills, you’ve come to the right place at the perfect time.
Fill out the form below and tell us a little about yourself, your approach to Halloween decorations, and what makes your style unique.
Without further ado, here are some of the most enticing Halloween houses we’ve seen this month.
Don’t let the beautiful historic architecture distract you from the enormous (faux) spider crawling up the side of the house on New York City’s Easy 78th street. Coupled with a witch in the window and skeletons on the second floor, this is one of our favorites, for sure. Plus, the glowing red string lights add a touch of whimsy we’ll never say no to.
Okay, hear us out! We don’t know what this 15-foot-skeleton is doing come sunset, but during the day, he is perched on this swing decked in his top hat. It may not be the scariest setup we’ve ever seen, but we are into the vibes on offer. Plus, the crows and smaller skeletons don’t hurt.
Don’t make eye contact with the truly terrifying witch hovering above the ground on the second story of this otherwise lovely brownstone on the Upper East Side.
Nothing, and we mean nothing, is scarier than an old timey psych ward. Case in point: This townhouse, also on East 78th Street. We’ll tell you this: Generally, we would be very happy to stroll the tree-lined street, but during the month of October, we are steering clear! Unless, of course, we’re in the mood for raised cortisol levels.
Would you believe that this charming Halloween house is also on East 78th Street? This one, however, is nowhere near as terrifying as the one right next door because it’s inspired entirely by the last 20 minutes of Alice in Wonderland. From the oversized playing cards to the Queen’s gardeners, this is a good one. The huge Cheshire cat and falling Alice don’t hurt.
If this spooky setup looks familiar, it’s because it’s entirely inspired by Titanic. While it’s definitely quite frightening, it’s also, dare we say, incredibly chic.
Spiders are definitely on the agenda this Halloween. While it’s not exactly a sight that would make people scurry away in fear, imagine being inside the house and looking out to these fuzzy legs. Horrifying.
