Drawing inspiration from her childhood in Nigeria and travels through Morocco, Schumacher created a cocktail-ready lounge that’s both glamorous and untamed. The intimate space, tucked just off the brownstone’s foyer, is filled with sculptural seating, rich textures, and playful details — from velvet pillows and pink-leather accents to a shimmering asymmetrical chandelier that casts a warm, rosy glow.

At the heart of the room is a bespoke wallpaper inspired by a sketch from Schumacher’s grandmother, artist Elizabeth Monath, bringing personal history and artistry into this one-of-a-kind hideaway.

The Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York City is an annual design event where top interior designers transform a luxury Manhattan residence into a stunning showcase of creativity. Founded in 1973, it serves as the signature fundraiser for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, with all proceeds supporting after-school and enrichment programs for thousands of children in the Bronx and beyond.
