Actor Mason McCulley’s Theatrical Alabama Home
Step inside the enchanting Birmingham home of actor Mason McCulley, where history, theatrics, and curiosity collide in the most spectacular way.
Originally built in 1924 as a collection of apartments, the building’s charm was so irresistible that it pulled Mason back to his hometown. His unit—once the grand ballroom—boasts soaring 18-foot ceilings creating an undeniable sense of drama.
Renovated by designer Andrew Brown before Mason moved in, the home came with breathtaking painted floors and mirrored walls, setting the stage for a space that feels both lived-in and larger-than-life. With the help of interior designer Danielle Balanis, Mason has leaned into the home’s theatrical spirit, filling it with family relics, portraits of ancestors, and an ever-evolving cabinet of curiosities.
It’s casual, but not without spectacle—cue the giant peacocks! Vibrant pops of chartreuse green weave through the space, adding an unexpected jolt of energy, while layers of the obscure keep you questioning what’s around the next corner. Join us as Mason and Danielle take us on a tour of this one-of-a-kind home, where history meets showmanship in the most magical way.
Mason is known for playing Ken on the first three seasons of the critically acclaimed HBO show INSECURE from Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Issa Rae, and one-man show CAROLE COOK DIED FOR MY SINS!
