Connecticut Governor and First Lady Lamont Host a Virtual Holiday Open House at their Residence
Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont and First Lady Annie Lamont open up the Governor's Residence in Hartford for a holiday tour. In normal years the Governor and First Lady welcome thousands of local residents to view the festive decorations, but due to Covid, this 30th annual open house was virtual. Nonetheless, still breathtakingly beautiful.
The Dining room table was designed by Lux Bond & Green Jewelers, who have been dedicated to offering truly extraordinary diamonds, jewelry, watches and gifts for the home since 1898. Trees within the Residence and outside have for many years been donated by the Jones Family Farm. The Jones Family Farms in Shelton is one of the state’s oldest tree farms. Founder of the eponymous tree business, Philip H. Jones was born in 1918 at the height of the last great pandemic, the Spanish Flu. In 1936, as a teenager, he joined the UCONN 4-H program, which provided the education and inspiration to foster his passion for forestry. Over the years his tree plantings grew to 200 acres and an annual harvest in the thousands.
This Christmas four exotic firs are also on display at the Governor’s residence. Harvested at the Jones Farm, the firs are part of a trial planting by scientists at the CT Agricultural Experiment Station Valley Laboratory in Windsor, CT. The wreaths, seasonal greenery and plants are generously donated to the State by the Connecticut Greenhouse Growers Association and the Connecticut Nursery and Landscape Association.
