Inside a Color Expert’s French Country Style Home

Colour expert and educator Maria Killam welcomes us inside her colourful French country home in Chilliwack, British Columbia (one hour East of Vancouver, BC).

Rather than starting over, Maria worked with many of the home’s existing elements—retaining the kitchen and staircase, lightening the hardwood floors, and using wallpaper, millwork, art, lighting and carefully collected furnishings to create flow from room to room. The result is a joyful, layered home that embodies the philosophy behind her work: knowing what to keep, what to change and when a room needs decorating instead of renovating.

From the colour-infused interior to the French country gardens, greenhouse and beloved red barn, every space reflects Maria’s belief that colour is timeless when chosen with intention.
