Snooping Around

Daily Cup of Couture Editor Caitlin Fisher’s California Home

Formerly in fashion, Caitlin Fisher is now a mother of three darling children and the Editor of Daily Cup of Couture. She has a classic and effortlessly chic style that includes lots of cashmere and stripes. Caitlin says you can usually find fresh peonies and a stack of British magazines on her bedside table. Let’s get snooping.

HOMEWORTHY: How do you describe your interior design style?

CAITLIN FISHER: My style is inherently traditional and feminine. Yet, at this point in my life, with three young children I have to be sure to balance the pretty with the practical 😉

HOMEWORTHY: What are your favorite things in your home?

CF: One of my favorite things in our home is the wallpaper in our mudroom, which is Schumacher’s Chenonceau Wallpaper in Sky. The room is one of the first things you see after you walk through our front door and this paper makes me happy every single time I see it!

CF: The kitchen is another one of my favorite things about our home. It is certainly the heart and center of our home and I love how refreshing it is in all white. Such a bright and happy spot to start the day and share meals.

HOMEWORTHY: What item have you splurged on?

CF: I certainly splurged on our bed linens, which feels worth it as you spend more time in your bed than anywhere else in your home. I mixed Matouk’s Scalloped Pique Lanai bedding with D.Porthault’s Jete te Fleurs in Blue and I absolutely adore the combination!

HOMEWORTHY: Any sneaky decorating tricks?

CF: I have found Etsy to be an easy and amazing resource for custom pillows that are truly well priced. I have gotten some monogrammed ones for the children’s rooms and been thrilled with the results each time.

Additionally, I love removable wallpaper for children’s rooms as it makes a big impact decor-wise, but as they get older and you may need to redecorate it is so easy and painless to remove. I used some to line the bookshelves in one of the children’s rooms and love it!

HOMEWORTHY: What is on your wish list?

CF: de Gournay Chinoiserie wallpaper for our dining room, truly classic and romantic. And worth every penny in my eyes as it transforms a room (honey, can you see this?!)

HOMEWORTHY: Go-to hostess gift?

CF: Usually a myrtle topiary. They look great in any home and last for such a long time. (As long as you remember to water! … which sometimes I don’t with the ones in my own home.)
