A Collected Long Island City Apartment Filled with Art and Character

We’re back with interior designer Alvin Wayne in his Long Island City apartment—an ever-evolving space shaped by life, loss, and healing.

Having been featured as one of Homeworthy's earliest hosts, Alvin has gone through many life changes since, most notably overcoming a second battle with cancer.

To reflect such changes, Alvin has transformed his apartment to fit with his ever-changing lifestyle. This version of the beloved apartment is grounded and sculptural: Venetian plaster that glows like suede at golden hour, chrome lighting, unexpected onyx moments, and a marble DJ booth made for entertaining.

Room to room, Alvin proves you don’t need more—just the right pieces—layering texture, reflective finishes, and art straight from the makers, plus smart rental-friendly hacks.

And in the bedroom, nostalgia meets comfort with warm wood tones and rich wallpaper—reminding us home isn’t just where you live, it’s where you become.
