Antiques and Southern Charm Fill This Color-Drenched 1940s Home

After years of calling New Orleans home, Homeworthy hosts Michael Harold and Dr. Quinn Peeper found their escape on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Pass Christian. What began as a one-day house hunt led them to this 1940s home—the final stop of the day—and they knew almost instantly that they had found the one. For Quinn, there was an especially familiar feeling: the house reminded him of his grandparents’ home in Arkansas.

With the home lovingly maintained by its previous owners, Michael and Quinn had little to change structurally. Instead, they set about making it unmistakably their own, layering the rooms with the vibrant colors, playful patterns, needlepoint, and treasures they’ve collected over the years.

The result is a relaxed, distinctly coastal interior with a touch of Bahamian flair, where coral and turquoise hues meet an eclectic mix of art and antiques. Outside, the home becomes a true entertaining haven, with a lap pool, a cabana edged in scalloped trim, and plenty of stripes. It’s the kind of place designed for lingering, whether poolside on a summer afternoon or gathered around the table with friends.

Now, Michael and Quinn are bringing their love of Southern hospitality and coastal entertaining to the page with their forthcoming book, Coastal Shindig. In this return visit to their Pass Christian home, they share the spaces, collections, and traditions that make this Gulf Coast retreat their own.
