Vintage Vibes

Inside a Charming Coastal Home Filled With Antiques & Vintage Finds

In the seaside community of Corona del Mar, Kelley Motschenbacher has created a home that brings together the character of well-worn antiques and the simplicity of modern design.

The owner of Blu Canoe, a Southern California shop featuring vintage finds and work by independent makers, Kelley has spent years collecting furniture, art, textiles, and objects that give each room its own sense of history. American cupboards with beautifully aged paint, Swedish furniture, Japanese textiles, and Native American rugs are layered alongside contemporary lighting and clean-lined furnishings.

A thoughtful renovation opened up the home's living and dining spaces, introduced architectural details like salvaged factory windows and antique château doors, and transformed the kitchen into a hardworking space with a charming, unfitted feel.

Outside, a series of intimate terraces and a gravel garden filled with olive trees offer quiet places to read, entertain, and enjoy the Southern California weather.
