What To Wear Where…Featuring Food Life Love Founder Rachel Hutchinson

Homeworthy wonders: what deliciously inappropriate outfit can you get away with wearing, where? Pre-COVID, it was the Nap Dress in a meeting or SoulCycling in a Chanel scrunchie; now, it’s a sequined top to a Zoom Happy Hour from your kitchen or statement earrings with your loungewear on the couch. In this series, we push the boundaries of your floor plan and your comfort level as we check in with the stylish set, showcasing home design side-by-side chic styling.

HOMEWORTHY: Where in your home did you take the photo and why do you love this room?

RACHEL HUTCHINSON: In my daughter Sicily’s nursery. It’s so feminine and cheery, and is so special to me for obvious reasons!

HOMEWORTHY: Was this the case pre-lockdown?

RH: No! I actually had my daughter in April, right in the midst of quarantine. It was and still is a time of uncertainty, so this space brings me so much joy because it represents one of the most amazing things that’s happened to our family during such a crazy year.

HOMEWORTHY: How much time a day do you spend in this place?

RH: At least a few hours whether it’s rocking or reading to Sicily, we love our special time together in her nursery.

HOMEWORTHY: How does your outfit correlate (or not!) to the space you chose?

RH: My outfit definitely has a different look than this space but I’m proud to still be doing me while adapting to motherhood. Taking time for myself, focusing on my business and being a mom are all important to me and I hope that’s what this look conveys!

HOMEWORTHY: What touches made your outfit feel like you went that extra “fashion” step?

RH: An oversized blazer is probably not a staple in everyone’s closet, but I believe when styled right, it really adds impact to an outfit!

HOMEWORTHY: Will you wear this outfit again after lockdown?

RH: Yes definitely! As Fall is approaching, it’ll be a great outfit that I can dress up (with heels) or down (with sneakers).

HOMEWORTHY: Where to?

RH: A girls lunch, cowboys game, happy hour, anywhere! People in Dallas love to dress up and it’s always fun to be fashionable here even if you’re just running errands

HOMEWORTHY: Tell us about the outfit

RH: I love to mix my more expensive pieces with something less pricey. This top is by Polo that I purchased on sale for under $100 while my blazer was a big splurge of the year from Gucci. Both are classic wardrobe staples that can be worn all the time! I live in these Vince leather leggings all winter long.

HOMEWORTHY: Please give us any details about the room that you’d like to share!

RH: I have always dreamed of designing a nursery so when I found out that I was pregnant with a baby girl last September, I could not wait to get started on it. I had been eyeing this acrylic crib for years and my dad surprised me with it for Christmas. It is just as beautiful in person and will go perfect in any nursery for years to come!
