A Traditional English Victorian Apartment Filled with Antiques

Design duo Brett and Anthony Calvert-Harrison of Levan House Design invite us inside their beautifully restored Victorian apartment in Brighton, UK. After years as a neglected rental, the home immediately captivated them with its soaring ceilings, original architectural details, and historic character. Rather than overhaul the space, the couple took a thoughtful approach to bringing it back to life, restoring the ceiling and allowing the apartment’s original bones to guide the design.

A vintage piece of wallpaper discovered while replacing the fireplace became the inspiration for the home’s rich color palette, with deep reds, greens, and blues layered against a neutral backdrop. Throughout the apartment, Brett and Anthony have mixed antiques they’ve collected over the years with carefully considered details, from the window dressings to the lighting, creating a home that feels both deeply personal and true to its Victorian roots.
