Homeworthy is teaming up with Texas tastemaker Jenn Hill for a new series exploring the heart of the Lone Star State. A lifelong Texan, Hill travels through small towns, meeting the people, visiting the homes and businesses, and discovering the traditions that make each place special.

In this episode, Jenn heads to Marshall, a small town about two and a half hours from Dallas. She starts at Bear Bottom, the century-old Shoults family property, where she joins Robbie Shoults and his mother, Bebe, in the kitchen to make her famous chocolate pie.

From there, Jenn visits the family’s Bear Creek Smokehouse to see how their legendary meats are made before heading downtown to High Horse, housed in Texas’ first department store. There, she cooks alongside Chef Donald, preparing blackened redfish with crawfish cream sauce, rice pilaf, and asparagus.

Jenn wraps up her day taking in a sunset over Marshall’s beautiful landscape—a fitting end to a day spent discovering the town’s food, history, and traditions.
