Snooping Around

Interior Designer Jennifer Hunter’s South Street Seaport Industrial Loft Apartment

Jennifer Hunter is the founder of a boutique residential interior design firm based in Manhattan. She has absolutely impeccable taste so it’s no surprise that her first formal foray into interior design was an internship for the late Albert Hadley. Jennifer describes this apartment as a “tiny architectural jewel box.” Let’s get snooping!

HOMEWORTHY: How do you describe your interior design style?

JENNIFER HUNTER: My aesthetic can be described as a fresh take on traditional design. My design is equal parts tailored and eclectic, glamorous and relaxed, bold and subtle. I really try to strike a unique balance in each project.

HOMEWORTHY: What are your favorite things in your home?

JH: This elephant was a gift from decorator Harry Heissman, a dear friend and mentor. He knew my love of elephants and surprised me one day with a special delivery from CBell in Palm Beach. It’s been one of my greatest treasures ever since.

And these hand-painted wooden walnuts in a blue and white footed bowl by Sister Parish– they remind me of Albert Hadley because he had similar ones in his office.

HOMEWORTHY: What item have you splurged on?

JH: This Bunny Williams Sapphire Mirror

HOMEWORTHY: Any sneaky decorating tricks?

JH: Good lighting, overstuffed pillows (no sad pillows), and a personal art collection.

HOMEWORTHY: Tips for living small in Manhattan?

JH: Balance, scale, and proportion and organization, organization, organization! Everything needs to have a place.

HOMEWORTHY: Go-to hostess gift?

JH: I love E Boiardi Studio ceramics. They are the perfect accessory that can be used as a trinket dish or an hors d’oeuvre plate. They add a pop of color to any space!
