A 1830s New York Home Filled with Art, Antiques & English Charm
Interior stylist and artist Martin Bourne welcomes us inside his beautiful 1830 farmhouse in upstate New York—a space shaped by history, creativity, and years of thoughtful restoration.
What began as a crumbling house with no electricity slowly transformed into a layered retreat filled with collected art, salvaged architectural details, handmade ceramics, and rooms that tell the story of its past and present inhabitants.
From hidden staircases and inherited color combinations to lush English-inspired gardens and layered interiors, this home reflects Martin’s love of imperfection, craftsmanship, and artistry. The house is both wildly eclectic and deeply intimate, blending British country-house sensibilities with the relaxed spirit of rural New York.
Filled with color, texture, plants, antiques, and personal collections, this is a home where creativity spills into every space — from the gallery room and sprawling dining room to Martin’s dreamy upstairs studio, where he creates textiles, photography, and ceramics inspired by the garden just outside.
