A Cozy and Collected Home in the Swedish Countryside

Content creator Emily Slotte welcomes us into her charming 19th-century home in the Swedish countryside.

Painted red with traditional white trim, this historic house once served as a schoolhouse and has since been transformed into a warm, character-filled family home. Inside, Emily has created a relaxed blend of Scandinavian simplicity and French country style, layering antique furniture, vintage flea market finds, and beautiful textiles throughout.

Emily shares how she has thoughtfully updated the house over the years, from converting the attic into additional bedrooms to giving the kitchen a budget-friendly renovation with DIY IKEA cabinetry. Original wood-paneled ceilings, rustic furniture, collected porcelain, and soft textiles bring warmth and texture to every room.

With its muted palette, charming architectural details, and thoughtfully collected interiors, Emily’s home is a lovely example of how to make an old house feel both timeless and personal.
