A Cozy European-Inspired Home with a Stunning Blend of Color, Pattern, and Art

Interior designer Meta Coleman welcomes us into her cozy, art-filled home in Provo, Utah.

Inspired by East Coast charm and European design, Meta and her husband built the house 20 years ago. Since then, she has devoted herself to creating a space that feels layered, history-rich, and welcoming. Bringing in treasures from her travels and layering a mix of color, texture, and pattern, this home feels like anything but a new-build.

Vibrant Josef Frank fabrics appear throughout, alongside European furniture inherited from family in a nod to Meta’s German-American upbringing. Meta and her husband—who is a painter—have also filled the rooms with landscapes, portraits, and bird paintings that deepen the home’s sense of history.

Her love of history shows in striking pairings: mid-century furniture with 19th-century art, traditional Biedermeier pieces with vibrant prints. It is a colorful home that is distinctive, inviting, and a true feast for the eyes.
