A Designer’s Dream Walk-In Closet in a Mid-Century Home

In her 1955 mid-century home in Anaheim, California — a house she bought before even seeing this entire walled-off back wing — interior designer, YouTuber, and self-described fashion fiend Julie Khuu has carved out a walk-in closet she says she could happily die in.

Today, Homeworthy is stepping inside a space where fashion, her first love, gets the full retail treatment: a rack of jackets for a Southern California climate that's never truly cold ("it's called fashion, honey"), a $50 antique Chinese lacquered cabinet she bought at 19 with all her savings, and Ikea Billy bookcases she's owned for nearly 20 years holding color-coded shoes.

She sacrificed a functioning shower to make room for her long gowns, styled her favorite bags and pieces like store displays, and hunted down a statement mirror — bought back from an old design client — so tall this is the only room in the house that can hold it.
