An Artist’s Cozy Lowcountry Home Filled with Thrifted Finds

Painter and illustrator Chloe Johnson welcomes us inside her cozy Charleston home, where vintage treasures, original artwork, and thoughtful DIY details give every room a story.

Alongside her husband, Gabriel, Chloe has transformed the house into a warm, collected space that blends their two distinct styles. Much of the home was found secondhand, from furniture discovered at thrift stores and estate sales to unexpected roadside treasures.

Gabriel built custom pieces throughout the house, while Chloe has added her own paintings, hand-sewn curtains, and pressed flowers collected over the years. Inspired by her upbringing in Western Europe and her love of art, nature, and children's books, Chloe has created a home that feels personal, playful, and full of character.
