At Home with Ruth McKeaney

Inside A Charming Lowcountry Cottage Filled with Southern Soul

Homeworthy host Ruth McKeaney invites us to Savannah, Georgia, to tour the enchanting nineteenth-century Lowcountry cottage of her longtime friends, Bill and Nancy Fuqua. Built in 1879 and just outside the city, the home has been lovingly stewarded by five generations of owners — with the Fuquas spending the past twenty-three years raising their two daughters within its storied walls.

Every corner of the house reflects a deep reverence for craftsmanship and history, from the layered antiques to Bill’s remarkable collection of miniature ship replicas, each one meticulously built by hand and rich with personal and maritime stories.

Later, we head to the kitchen where Ruth joins celebrated local chef Martha Nesbit. A longtime Savannah resident, cookbook author, and culinary educator, Martha shares quintessential Southern recipes made with simple, comforting ingredients that taste unmistakably like home. It’s a joyful blend of heritage, hospitality, and timeless Lowcountry charm.
