An Artist’s Colorful English Home and Garden

Artist, designer, and gardener Emelia Erland welcomes us inside her colorful Victorian home in Bristol, England, a 1894 property she transformed into a deeply personal work of art.

Inspired by her late father's paintings and the artistic traditions of her family, Emelia filled the house with bold color combinations, intricate murals, architectural salvage, and one-of-a-kind details.

Working on a tight budget, she and her mother rebuilt much of the home themselves, repurposing everything from reclaimed timber and antique fireplaces to salvaged windows and vintage furniture.

Outside, a tiny outdoor space has become a lush, layered garden filled with winding brick planters, climbing greenery, and a striking mural dedicated to her father.

From the handmade kitchen to her tucked-away loft studio, every corner tells a story of creativity, resourcefulness, and the things we carry with us.
