A Thoughtfully Designed 724-Square-Foot Brooklyn Apartment

Graci Mills, an architect, and Andrew Keck, a prop master and fabricator, have transformed their 724-square-foot Brooklyn apartment into a colorful, thoughtfully designed home that works for their growing family.

Located in Bed-Stuy, the pre-war apartment had a traditional, compartmentalized layout with dark interior spaces. Together, they reimagined the floor plan to bring in more light, improve functionality, and make every square inch count. From a custom-built desk that folds away to create extra entertaining space to a double-peninsula kitchen designed for cooking and gathering, every detail reflects the couple’s shared love of design and craftsmanship.

Andrew’s handmade furniture and clever storage solutions pair with Graci’s architectural vision, creating a home that feels both practical and personal. Even with the addition of their baby daughter, the couple has found creative ways to make their small space work beautifully.

Throughout the apartment, collected artwork, vintage finds, records, and meaningful pieces from their travels tell the story of their lives together.

For Graci and Andrew, home is more than a place to live. It’s a reflection of their connection to New York City, the people they love, and the creative community around them.
