Vintage Vibes

Inside a Charming Chicago Home Full of Meaningful Art & Smart DIYs

Kim and Scott Vargo, the designers behind Yellow Brick Home, welcome us inside their beautifully renovated Chicago home. What was once a multi-unit rental—including an in-home daycare—was thoughtfully transformed into a warm, personality-filled family home.

Over the past decade, the couple has tackled countless projects to bring their vision to life through knocking down walls, building custom furniture, and uncovering historic details from the home’s 1887 roots.

Throughout the house, meaningful pieces tell their story: vintage finds, family heirlooms, artwork from their daughter, and creative solutions.

From a bold red kitchen with marble countertops to a cozy “snug” filled with vinyl records, every space reflects their philosophy of layering traditional design with playful personality. The second floor doubles as a creative studio and family hangout where art projects, puzzles, and even their bearded dragon, David Bowie, are part of daily life.
