A Melbourne Home That Blends Historic Charm & Modern Design
We’re stepping inside the light-filled, thoughtfully curated Melbourne home of Australian furniture designer Rachel Donath.
Twelve years ago, Rachel instantly knew she had found the one when she first laid eyes on this Edwardian-style home. Since then, she’s undertaken an extensive renovation, skillfully blending the home's 120-year-old heritage with contemporary touches to create a serene, airy retreat for her and her family.
This dialogue between old and new continues throughout the interiors. Carefully chosen pieces—from Rachel’s own furniture collection to a sculpture crafted by her son, and a striking antique tapestry sourced from France—infuse the space with personal meaning, while maintaining a refined, minimalist aesthetic. Bright and calm, this home is a testament to Rachel’s distinctive vision and heartfelt connection to the space.
