Italian Ambassador Opens Doors To Stunning Washington, DC Residence
We’re stepping inside one of the most exclusive residences in Washington, D.C.—Villa Firenze, the official home of the Italian Ambassador to the United States.
Tucked away on nearly 20 acres in the heart of the Washington, Villa Firenze is a place of extraordinary beauty, diplomacy, and history. We’re joined by Ambassador Mariangela Zappia—Italy’s first female ambassador to the U.S.—who graciously welcomes Homeworthy inside the gorgeous estate and offers a rare glimpse behind its gates.
During her tenure, the residence underwent a remarkable transformation. Ambassador Zappia led a bold initiative to contemporize the art throughout the home, introducing dynamic works by leading Italian artists and creating a vibrant dialogue between tradition and innovation. Villa Firenze has long served as a gathering place for diplomats, dignitaries, and cultural leaders from around the world.
We step into the grand dining room—set with exquisite Italian dinnerware—and into the heart of the home, the kitchen, where we’re reminded that some of the most meaningful diplomacy often happens over a shared meal and a perfectly prepared espresso.
