A Storybook English Cottage Blending French Country Style With Family History

Brand photographer and content creator Lauren Kitchin's cottage in Matlock Bath, England, has been part of her family’s story for generations.

After the loss of her beloved grandmother, known as Nanny, Lauren returned to the family home to begin a new chapter, carefully renovating the 1878 cottage while preserving the details that hold so many memories.

At Grace Cottage, repurposed kitchen cabinetry, Carrara marble and an antique island sit alongside French antiques and blue-and-white china, bringing together the romance of a traditional English home with the relaxed elegance of French interiors.

Nanny's paintings and treasured pieces of family furniture are woven throughout, giving the house a deeply personal sense of continuity.

Inspired by her travels, her love of antiques and the quiet rituals of everyday life, Lauren is creating a home that feels distinctly her own while honoring those who came before her. It is a thoughtful restoration with an eye to the future, ensuring Grace Cottage will be part of her family’s story for generations to come.
