4,000 Pumpkins Bring This Upper West Side Brownstone to Life for Halloween

It’s Halloween on the Upper West Side — and designer Hillary Wallace has turned her brownstone into a spellbinding celebration of creativity and imagination.

It all started with a trip to a giant warehouse auction in Pennsylvania, where pallets of pumpkins stretched as far as the eye could see. Hillary wandered the aisles, marveling at the endless shapes and sizes — and by the end of the day, she had hauled home four thousand pumpkins, each one destined to play a part in her fantastical Halloween display.

Step inside, and the enchantment continues. The parlor comes alive with floating witches hats, flickering candles and the feeling that you’ve wandered into a haunted New Orleans mansion — equal parts sophisticated and witty.

For Hillary, Halloween isn’t about fright — it’s about delight. It’s her chance to create, to play, and to remind everyone passing by that a touch of imagination can turn even an ordinary city block into something truly magical.
