A 1930s Spanish-Style Los Angeles Apartment with Vintage & Eclectic Style
Shoe designer and vintage curator Alexia Ioannou welcomes us into her charming 1930s Los Angeles apartment.
Lexi discovered this Spanish-style duplex on Zillow, and even though the listing weren’t great, she instantly recognized the home’s potential. From the arched doorways and original tiled kitchen and bathroom to the updated conveniences—like a gas fireplace—she knew she had found her dream apartment.
A master thrifter, Lexi has layered pieces that honor the apartment’s 1930s roots while introducing modern elements that keep the space feeling fresh and current. Every corner tells a story through her vintage treasures sourced from local antique shops and estate sales, her thoughtful color palette, and one-of-a-kind artwork. The result is a cohesive design that feels deeply connected to the home’s historic bones.
As a shoe designer, Lexi also uses the apartment as her creative studio for Nou—complete with a mood board, prototypes, and shelves of design books. But perhaps the most enviable detail is her shoe closet, brimming with vintage designer finds that she has lovingly restored.
Just like its owner, Lexi’s home is warm, stylish, and full of character.
