A Traditional Twist on a Midcentury Home in Illinois
We’re in Glenview, Illinois, visiting the beautiful home of interior decorator and photo stylist Jennifer DeCleene.
Her family moved into their 1961 split-level home four years ago after looking for more space for their young family. While initially Jennifer was looking to avoid split-level homes, she fell in love with the midcentury charm, open spaces, and neighborhood of this “blank slate” space.
Jennifer designed the home with her traditional style using layers of color, collected treasures, and pockets of whimsy. She also leaned into the midcentury roots of the home by preserving a stone entry floor and original fireplace.
After relocating to Chicago, Jennifer combined her editorial work with her love of styling to start a freelance career as a producer, photo stylist and decorator. She has over a decade of magazine experience with roles at O, The Oprah Magazine, Cottage Living, Southern Living, and HGTV Magazine.
She approaches every space with a layered mindset, creating a family home filled with memories, meaningful keepsakes, and personal touches.
