An Elegant 1840 Beacon Hill Townhouse by Garrow Kedigian
Interior designer Garrow Kedigian returns to Homeworthy for a look inside the fabulous Beacon Hill home of one of his clients. Dating to 1840, the handsome brick house hadn’t been touched in more than 55 years, making this an extensive renovation from the outset.
Nearly every room was rethought, and even the basement ceiling was raised, while Garrow carefully balanced the scale of the transformation with a deep respect for the home’s history. He added new layers of architectural detail, from elegant cornicing to enhanced doorways, while preserving the period features that give the house its character.
The homeowners’ love of color inspired Garrow to weave shades of blue throughout the interiors, bringing a fresh, spirited note to the classic architecture. The result is a beautifully layered home that feels both rooted in its 1840s origins and completely at home in the present, with a mix of historic character, thoughtful architectural detail, and the homeowners’ own personality.
