A Maximalist London Flat Overflowing with Color & Creative DIYs

Aliénor Cros, designer and host of Artfully Crafted, welcomes us inside her vibrant London flat that has been transformed with bold colors, creative DIYs, and a deep love for historic design and craftsmanship.

Aliénor lives with her husband in a former shopkeeper’s flat — a quirky, multi-roomed space full of character and challenges that she has lovingly transformed into a bold, joyful home.

With a deep love for the history of design, Aliénor layers influences from Gothic Revival to Arts and Crafts throughout the space, each room telling a story of its own. As renters, Aliénor and her husband have tackled countless DIY projects — from revamping fireplaces to hand-painting decorative ceiling trim and faux marble finishes. They've made every corner feel personal, soulful, and utterly original.

A proud maximalist, Aliénor embraces a “more is more” philosophy, using rich colors and repeating them throughout rooms to create a cohesive, curated feel. Her home is filled with a vibrant mix of antiques, artwork, ceramics, and handmade touches — all reflecting her deep appreciation for craftsmanship.

This is the first space Aliénor says truly feels like her, and it shows. In addition to launching her interior design career, she’s also recently created a YouTube channel called Artfully Crafted, where she shares beautifully made documentaries that celebrate traditional crafts and the artists behind them.
