A Traditional 1930s Colonial Home with Timeless Interior Design
When fashion and interiors content creator Meg McGillen moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, three years ago, she saw the potential in a 1930s Colonial that was waiting to be brought to life. With a few thoughtful updates, she has transformed the once bare-bones house into a warm, layered home where color, pattern, and timeless furnishings come together in a way that feels distinctly her own.
Meg’s approach to design is rooted in a lifelong appreciation for beautiful things. Her father is an antique dealer, and her mother owns a furniture store, so she grew up surrounded by fine craftsmanship and storied pieces. She went on to work in buying at Ralph Lauren and merchandising at Schumacher, experiences that deepened her appreciation for textiles and informed the way she decorates today. Throughout the home, a considered palette of blues, yellows, and greens creates a sense of continuity, while a mix of patterns, textures, and collected furnishings gives each room its own personality. The result is a home that feels both timeless and personal, designed to evolve alongside her family.
